Eddy Bogaert
Visual Artist
BIO
Eddy Bogaert (b. 1985, New York, NY) is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose innovative work spans the realms of digital art, interactive installations, and traditional mixed media, incorporating acrylic paint, resin, and augmented reality. Known for his striking aesthetic, Bogaert's practice explores themes of technology, identity, memory, and human relationships, particularly the complex interplay between humans and machines in an increasingly digital world. His art often draws from his own tumultuous upbringing, the chaotic energy of the 1980s, and the cultural vibrancy of New York City, blending elements of pop culture, high fashion, and emotional introspection.

Mission
Bogaert’s work is characterized by a dynamic use of color and texture, where bright and dark hues convey the contradictions and complexities of human experience. His pieces frequently evoke a sense of both the sublime and the sinister, reflecting the tensions within his own life. In addition to his 2D canvases, many of his works incorporate augmented reality, adding a dimensional, interactive element that invites viewers to engage with the art in new and immersive ways. His mixed-media pieces range from chaotic, gestural abstractions to more contemplative, introspective works that explore themes of desire, memory, and identity.
Before transitioning to art, Bogaert had a successful career as a fashion model, working with top agencies such as Wilhelmina and Red Models. A pivotal moment in his artistic journey occurred after a late-night shoot in Soho, New York, when he stumbled upon a gallery that inspired him to pursue art full-time. From that point on, he began creating his own works, often using discarded materials like plywood as his canvas, and his passion for visual expression has only grown since.
Bogaert's art has been featured in numerous galleries and pop-up shows across the United States, as well as in international exhibitions in the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Brazil, and Ukraine. Notably, his works were showcased during Miami Art Basel, and in 2017, he had the rare opportunity to paint a Lamborghini owned by a Saudi prince. His art has often been compared to the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol, with traces of their influence evident in his vibrant, layered works.
Through his art, Bogaert seeks to inspire others to embrace their creative impulses, regardless of their background. He is particularly focused on encouraging young artists to find their voice and express themselves in the face of adversity. His artistic journey reflects a deep commitment to the transformative power of art, both as a personal exploration and a way to communicate universal human truths.
Artist Statement
“Sex, lust, desire, high fashion, and a tumultuous young life are the main motifs of my work. I didn’t have the easiest upbringing, but my experiences are what I illustrate through my brushstrokes and artistic impulse. With engaging colorful hues and gestural abstraction, I seek to inspire young artists to come forth no matter their upbringing or background; to foster their creative spirit and overcome challenges through imaginative expression. To me, art is where the heart is and it’s where I make my stand.”
Bogaert's works stand as both a reflection of his personal journey and a broader commentary on the intersection of technology, memory, and human connection in the modern world.
